Template for refusing payment until Thames Water is returned to Public Ownership.

Dear Thames Water,

The Environment Select Committee has not only revealed that Thames Water chairman, Adrian Montague, has lied to Parliament but also how very close to collapse the company is.  Many months have elapsed since KKR pulled out of their bailout bid and no new investors have come forward, the Independent Water Commission’s has concluded that that regulation in the water industry is not working, Ofwat is delaying the collection of fines for unwarranted dividend pay outs and unacceptable levels of sewage dumping continues. In addition Montague has admitted to Thames spending many millions on engaging lawyers to reduce its liabilities for regulatory breaches and it was recently announced that your new Finance Officer has been awarded a £1million golden handshake which is against the recent water special measures law.

It is now impossible to have any confidence whatsoever in Thames Water.

I am no longer prepared to accept blatant exploitation by Thames Water as it is currently structured and I am no longer willing to aid and abet the criminal level of ecological harm for which Thames bosses are responsible by paying into their coffers. Further I cannot, in all consciousness, pay the soaring bills Thames issues when I know my money is used to cover the cost of illegal pay-outs to shareholders, fines for making these pay-outs, and huge fees to legal advisors and accountants who help you avoid regulation.

Please be advised that I shall now be withholding payment until this government takes Thames into Special Administration which is the only valid action in the face of the companies costly and dangerous failures.
