Other ‘boycott’ groups
Boycott Thames Water is one of several organised water ‘boycott’ groups or groups supporting those withholding payment. Each will appeal to different demographics and constituencies. They do not signify divisions in this citizens’ movement. They are laminations which make our movement stronger. We can all learn from each other as the movement grows.
Boycott Water Bills
The first national water- boycott organisation, and the inspiration for the founding of our local group.
Dont Pay for Dirty Water Campaign
A campaigning arm of Extinction Rebellion
Take Back Water
A successor of the Don’t Pay campaign, which began in 2022 in relation to energy bills. It seeks to build a critical mass before starting a boycott
Other water campaigners
There is a myriad of groups concerned with the dire state of our water industry. This is reflected in the 130 organisations who signed up as official supporters of the March for Clean Water in November ’24, including the National Trust, the RSPB and the Women’s Institutes. Here is a small selection of key players:
River Action
One of the organisers of the March for Clean Water
Surfers Against Sewage
Has grown over thirty years to be one of the most successful marine and conservation charities
We Own It
