Useful Support and Campaigning Organisations.

There is a growing number of groups concerned with the dire state of our water industry. As many as 130 organisations joined together for the March for Clean Water in November ’24 and since then the numbers calling for public ownership of water and withholding payment and have grown.   • Boycott Water Bills. The first national water- boycott organisation, and the inspiration for the founding of our local group. https://www.boycottwaterbills.com/
  • We Own It. Campaigns for public ownership and an end to privatisation in public services. Very active on water. https://weownit.org.uk/
  • Windrush Against Sewage Pollution. Campaigns based on the River Windrush, a tributary of the Thames, in Oxfordshire. Prominent in highlighting private water failures;Has challenged exclusion of public ownership from Cunliffe review.  https://www.windrushwasp.org/
  • Henley Mermaids. Campaigns against pollution of the Thames around Henley, Oxfordshire. Believes failing companies should be put into special administration (blog of 30/10/2024).  https://www.henleymermaids.com/

  • Take Back Water. Working to build support for a joint water payments strike. It seeks to build a critical mass before starting a boycott. Supports public ownership of water.  https://takebackwater.uk/

  • Compass. Works for an equal, democratic and sustainable future which includes public ownership of water. Very active on water.

  • Sewage Campaign Network.  Works to save rivers, lakes, and seas from sewage pollution. Signed letter to Cunliffe review objecting to exclusion of public ownership.  https://www.sewagecampaignnetwork.org.uk/
