About us

Boycott Thames Water brings together customers in the Thames Water area who refuse to pay the wastewater element of their bill (around half of each household bill). Thames Water systematically breaks the law by ‘fly-tipping’ noxious waste into our waterways. Why should we pay for a service we don’t receive? What other choice do we have when we cannot change our water company?

Pressure from water campaigners has already helped push the Government towards tougher regulation. Private water monopolies will always put profit before consumers and the environment. Our campaign tells the Government they must go further. It tells investors they can no longer rely on consumers as a cash cow.

Thames Water is already financially on its knees. A key aim is to make Thames Water un-investible. Boycotting hastens the day it must be taken back under public control.

The group first came together around the beginning of 2024. It is self-funded. It is entirely independent of any political party or other campaigning group. There is no ‘membership’ requirement. The only records kept are of those who want to be on our mailing list or join our WhatsApp group.

The group has a steering committee. Anyone is welcome to apply to join. We seek people with passion who are willing to take on tasks. More people with specialist skills are particularly needed. Proof of being a genuine boycotter may be required.
